About Mrs. NebekerI grew up near Seattle, Washington, with my parents and two younger sisters. My family taught me how to be successful in school and helped me set goals so that I could succeed in whatever career I chose. On my first day of kindergarten, I fell in love with school, and I wanted to be just like my teacher. Throughout my life, I have spent a lot of time volunteering in classrooms and learning about education and child development.
When I was in middle school, I experimented with a lot of extra-curricular activities like volleyball, basketball, tennis, art, band, piano, and color guard. In high school, I decided to focus my time on one thing, and I played tennis year-round. I was on the girls' JV team for one year and the varsity team for three years. When I wasn't playing tennis, I would plan fun activities with my friends like playing games, go cart racing, riding the ferry, and exploring downtown Seattle. My family enjoys taking lots of day trips and vacations, and we have been doing fun trips for as long as I can remember. It was on these trips that I learned to appreciate art, literature, nature, science, history, and other cultures.

After I graduated from high school, I went to college at Brigham Young University-Idaho. I thought I knew what I wanted to major in, but once I got there, I had a hard time deciding because of all the majors that were offered and because I was enjoying all my subjects. After a couple semesters and a couple of different majors, I changed my major to English education and my minor to art education. I loved all of my English and art classes!
When I was in college, I really wanted to travel and see the places where the great art and literature that I had read about was made, so I decided to study abroad. I spent a month studying literature and art throughout England, Ireland, Wales and France. I got to see a lot of famous art, historic landmarks, and beautiful places!
Half way through college, I was home for the summer when I met my husband. We got married in Seattle several years ago. Even though he didn't study English or art, Mr. Nebeker loves to read and enjoys trying art projects with me.
