The Elements of Art are the building blocks in art. They are value, color, line, shape, texture, and space. The presentation used in class about the Elements of Art is posted below. To develop understanding of the Elements of Art, students will create a book with an example and definition of each element. There are examples and a rubric below.

The Principles of Design
The Principles of Design are the ideas that help make a work of art use the Elements of Art well. The Elements are the things we use to make art, while the Principles help us know how to use them to create an interesting work of art. In this class, we will be focusing on unity, repetition, emphasis, and contrast.
