Stepping Stone Design Procedure
1. Find 3 different themes and draw 3 sketches of each.
2. Check with teacher for difficulty and adjustment.
3. Trace a template for your mold shape.
4. Enlarge your design on the doc cam to fit the mold shape.
5. Outline your pattern in felt pen.
6. Number your pattern.
7. Trace pattern onto tracing paper and number this design identically.
8. Color your original, small design to help in choosing glass color.
9. Cut your pattern out from the tracing paper. Make sure to cut away the pen lines.
10. Glue the pattern shapes to the glass and begin cutting.
11. When you have 3-5 pieces cut, grind the edges.
Glass Cutting
1. Always wear your goggles.
2. Dip your glass cutter into the oil at least once every class period to keep it sharp.
3. Pay attention to the grain and texture of the glass.
4. Cut inside curves first (these need more support from the glass).
